Dune Awakening - Wreck of the Alcyon

As part of the co-development between Yager and Funcom I was able to work on a number of the shipwrecks present in Dune Awakening. Mostly focusing on environment art, I took over the LD block-out of the wreck of the Alcyon and brought it through the final art pass. I was responsible for placement and dressing. I also created supporting meshes when needed to achieve the concept and narrative goals of the shipwreck.

The Alcyon is the first shipwreck that players encounter in Dune Awakening. It introduces the gameplay and narrative elements of these POI's.

An element of taking over the LD block-out was creating a feasible and logical layout of the ship interior. In this case I created a split-level main interior space. This allowed for interesting gameplay spaces and also helped drive the art dressing.

The shipwrecks presented an interesting window into narratives outside of Arakkis. In this case I created a bass relief showing creatures from the seas of the house Atreides homeworld, Caladan.

Crash damage is a big theme with the shipwrecks. Here in the engine room I focused on believable layout and dressing.
